This is an error we get sometimes in VMware. The error message is "VMware workstation can not connect to the virtual machine. Make sure you have rights to run the program, access all directories the program uses, and access all the directories for temporary files. The VMware authorization service is not running".
And this is the snap of the error,
So here is the fix,
Follow the steps:
Step 1: Press "Windows button+R" in your computer. This should open the "run" dialogue at the left bottom of the screen. Type "services.msc" here and hit "Enter'.
Step 2: This should open up a window listing all the services present in your computer. Scroll down to find a service named 'VMware authorization service'. Right click on the same and click on 'Start' as shown in the image below.
Step 3: After it shows 'running', you may exit the services window and reopen VMware. Select the Virtual OS you want to boot and it should now properly boot!

Write commentsHi, Thanks for the article but... my issue is that the Auth service "is" running and I still get this error. Also, if I run services.msc as admin (btw, I'm logged in as the local admin while doing all of this) and then stop and restart vm auth svr and vm workstation svr "sometimes" the VM machine will run. Also, once run, it might not run a 2nd time. Also, the VM Machines don't list on the left panel home screen as normal. I'm running workstation 12.5.6 Windows 10 pro 64 with creator's update. Any help?
